Krems Kino im Kesselhaus Kino im Kesselhaus
The legendary cellist, composer, and singer Arthur Russell is known as the missing link between minimal music and dance floor. He studied Indian sounds in San Francisco and later created garage-house blueprints and heartbreaking anti-folk songs in New York. Matt Wolf’s emphatic documentary reconstructs the restless life of this outsider who collaborated with composers such as Philip Glass or Julius Eastman till his death in 1992. His rich heritage was rediscovered around 2000 and today inspires other pioneers like Oliver Coates.
