Barn Owl
Despite their cute loveliness, barn owls are somewhat creepy: they have giant, dark eyes, massive beaks that can swallow mice whole and very fine feathers allowing them to fly without making a sound so they can hunt down their victims without prior warning. Only too fitting then that San Francisco-based Evan Caminiti and John Porras, who have been making music together since 2006 and in 2010 released their acclaimed third album, “Ancestral Star”, on Thrill Jockey, have named their spherically whirring, monumentally psychedelic shoegaze-metal sculptures, which seem to span the night sky endlessly over the desert, after this enigmatic little animal.
