Candelilla
“Wir flirten mit dem sexy, sexy Beat (We’re flirting with the sexy, sexy beat)”, Candelilla once sang. Because: being in a rock band doesn’t mean that you’ve got to be scared of the dance floor or straight, techno-style beats. Already in 2005, Barbara Steidl celebrated Candelilla on the Munich page of Süddeutsche Zeitung as “best young band in town”. Back then, however, the 4-women collective had already been around for four years, and in its current line-up, which in 2009 released the energetic album “reasonreasonreasonreason”, the quartet has been going since 2007. Don’t be misled by the soberly numbered songs though: In a wild blend of English singing and German slogans, the music, which is situated somewhere between cabaret and riot-grrrl dramatics, relentlessly pushes forward!
