In 1965, Danny Williams quit his studies at Harvard and became a filmmaker in Manhattan. He soon became a permanent member of the Warhol Factory, fell in love with Andy Warhol and lived with him. Within only a few months, he made more than 20 experimental films and designed “Exploding Plastic Inevitable”, the famous light show for Velvet Underground. But only one year later, the tide had turned: Andy split up with Danny, and the members of the Factory excluded him from new projects. And then Danny suddenly vanished without a trace – till this day. 34 years later, his niece, director Esther B. Robinson, discovered his fascinating films at the Warhol estate of the MoMA in New York. By means of diaries, photos, films and stories from friends and relatives (incl. John Cale), she reconstructed the last, intensive year of his life.
