The International Short Film Festival Oberhausen will show a selection
of experimental music videos that were nominated for the MuVi Award for
Best German Music Video. Far off common music video clichés, this will
be a time to reflect on and satirise the mechanisms of perception of
urban societies. Emotions will be cleared and dirty secrets uncovered:
grotesque, haunting, bizarre, amusing. VIS Vienna Independent Shorts
will present the music video programme, AnimatedAvantgarde, which was
expressly curated for the donaufestival. Broadening horizons and
subverting conventional ideas on the avant-garde is the aim of this
selection of music animations. The open and adventurous audience should
be looking forward to all things synthetic and organic, crazy and
absurd, dreamy and grotesque, exciting and sensual. Both programmes
allow the audience to come and go whenever they want. In the presence of
curators Jessica Manstetten (International Short Film Festival
Oberhausen) and Daniel Ebner (VIS).
