Gold Panda

Gold Panda, a former HMV sales assistant from Chelmsford/Essex and huge fan of the Asian culture – in order to learn Japanese at a “School of Oriental and Asian Studies” he reportedly had to sell off his record collection – meanwhile receives remix requests from acts like Telepathe, Little Boots, Bloc Party or Simian Mobile Disco.
As regards his method, his debut album, 2010’s “Lucky Shiner”, is strongly reminiscent of Aphex Twin or his revenant Kieran Hebden aka Four Tet: the passionate collector cuts up B-movie sounds, low-end bass lines, Indian vocals, world music, hip-hop and electro and puts the individual pieces back together to create massively glitchy and playful textures.
