Stirn Prumzer & Die Schwarzarbeit / Atzgerei

Two artist collectives, who are known for performances like the one at the Anker factory in Vienna’s 10th district where formats and contents evoked a downright intermedia clash of exhibition, performance and club culture, will in 2011 present their works in halls 1 and 2 of the exhibition centre in Krems. Those who know Stirn Prumzer, Stephan Schwarz and Atzgerei – the latter have also been in charge of the new visual appearance of the donaufestival since the start of this year – will have an idea that this is going to be an exercise in boundary crossing with plenty of surprises in store.

Stirn Prumzer
is the attempt at a complex Gestamtkunstwerk: His aim is to unmask a desolate reality which can no longer lay claim to the truth. He composes dense images which seem equally evil and nice, discomforting and amusing, to the observer. These different ways of interpretation are made possible by the excessive lust for formal freedom. Instead of going to the dogs out of suicidal artist despair, Stirn Prumzer chooses the extreme of the vital side: In his multi-dimensional exhibitions, his use of different art forms truly catches fire: The works are not merely shown, but, from all sides, placed into new contexts in a crude blend of performance, concert, exhibition and orgy.
