Good old heterosexual marriage not only seems to still be intact, at least in the field of experimental music, but to also yield highly productive pairings. Wildbirds & Peacedrums from Gothenburg in Sweden are one of those married couples, consisting of Mariam Wallentin and Andreas Werliin, who met each other while studying experimental music. Their psychedelic freak-folk, mostly restricted to drums, samples and Mariam’s effusive voice which sometimes evokes the spirit of Kate Bush, earned them the Swedish Jazz Award for their 2007 debut album, “Heartcore”.
