The Paris-based singer and producer Yasmine Dubois grew up in Tehran and lived in New York; her musical career began in a Mexican punk band. Her first EP Tan from 2016 already featured sharp-edged rhythmic globalisation pop. On her debut album, due for release this spring, she has refined and differentiated her style even more. LAFAWNDAH combines syncopated r’n’b beats with tribal analogue drums, mind-bending hurdy gurdy loops, and exquisite lascivious vocals.
