SOUND

“Create melodies when melodies seem impossible: That’s the aim of his musical work”, the Canadian guitarist Aidan Baker once said. Since 2003 he has been working on the project Nadja in Berlin, for the longest time together with bassist Leah Buckereff . With their instruments, with effects pedals, synthesizers, and drum computers, they forge hypnotic, all-enveloping noise. They submerge their audience in heavy, miry drones, vibrating the noise sludge with slow beats, while occasional doses of perky feedback bore into the listener’s temporal lobe.
