The Palestinian rapper and producer Asifeh aka Stormtrap was one of the co-founders of the Ramallah Underground Collective in the noughties, which was central to the blossoming Palestinian hip-hop and electronic scene. Today, he lives between Vienna and Ramallah but, as a member of the Aiwa collective, he also organises parties in Berlin. In his own music he raps over field recordings, industrial drones, and old-school hip-hop samples, complete with the sound of crackling vinyl and elegant, swinging horns. On his new album Makhazen Bukra, Asifeh looks back from a posthumanist future to the apocalypse of the present time.
