SOUND

Time is out of joint, the world disintegrating into fragments, the only hope is a view from far up there, in the coldness of space, to maintain a full picture of our earthly existence. The duo Prison Religion from Richmond, Virginia, shatter all musical certainties we possess in their creation of a dystopian techno soundtrack. But you could also call the music by Poozy and False Prpht punk rock – at its core, it is punk rock with electronic devices and desperately distorted vocals. Their music conjures the long tradition of futurist and apocalyptic pop, from industrial to power electronics to mutant disco, and catapults it with all intensity and haggardness – and for advanced contemporaries: danceable – into the apocalypse of the present.
