Galya Bisengalieva

Polygon is Galya Bisengalieva’s new album. Also known as the Semipalatinsk nuclear weapons test site in her native Kazakhstan. Nearly 500 nuclear bombs were detonated here before the end of the Soviet Union: the earth and its people are still contaminated to this day. Bisengalieva now lives in London. At donaufestival 2022, she presented her composition Aralkum. In Polygon, Bisengalieva now works primarily with electronically manipulated violin and vocals, with soundscapes, pulses, and drones, to create a cartography of a devastated world that has become hostile to human life.
