Why do we dream of our childhood for the rest of our lives? Where do we find a home that isn't scary? And is that really a black dog with bloody chops under the bed? Those are a few of the questions that Elizabeth Bernholz alias Gazelle Twin grapples with on her latest album Black Dog. She has been fusing heavy industrial sounds with ritualistic drones and versatile vocals since the early 2010s, constantly swapping masks and personalities ever since. On Black Dog, she now sings about the ghosts of her past, who in turn sing back in a thousand tongues. It is nothing less than exorcism.
