About

The temptation to describe EXIT VOID as an Austrian supergroup is hard to resist when six defining figures of the country’s music scene share the stage.

The sonic collective premiered in September 2025 at Dom im Berg in Graz and is set to appear in 2026 at Volksbühne Berlin, Donaufestival Krems, and further international stages and festivals.

Originally emerging from work on a soundtrack for a video installation, the ensemble combines electronic and acoustic instruments with structured compositions and open improvisational passages.

Each member comes from a clearly defined artistic context:
EXIT VOID functions as a spontaneous search for sound, where the distinct artistic signatures of Manfred Engelmayr (Bulbul), Katrin Euller (Rent), Alex Kranabetter (Drank), Wolfgang Lehmann (Voyage Futur), Anja Plaschg (Soap&Skin), and David Reumüller (Reflector) collide in productive friction, giving rise to music that remains open to the unpredictability of the moment.

• Manfred Engelmayr (Bulbul / guitar) has been a key figure in Austria’s noise and avant-rock scene for many years.
• Katrin Euller (aka Rent / electronics) Rent’s sounds refer to industrial ecosystems, interconnections, dark landscapes and their stories and the stories of those who inhabit these places
• Alex Kranabetter (Drank / trumpet, electronics) pushes beyond the boundaries of conventional trumpet playing, creating music between free improvisation and electroacoustic sound art.
• Wolfgang Lehmann (Voyage Futur / guitar, electronics) works as a guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer in projects spanning ambient, noise, pop, and electronic music.
• Anja Plaschg (Soap&Skin / voice, electronics) works internationally under the name Soap&Skin. Her albums and film scores combine reduced arrangements, electronic density, and a distinctive vocal presence.
• David Reumüller (Reflector / drums, electronics) works interdisciplinarily at the intersection of music and visual art, musically he moves between experimental metal, soundscapes, and noise.

Programme Text

It is hard to resist speaking of a supergroup when six leading figures from the Austrian music scene stand together on one stage. Exit Void acts as a spontaneous sound exploration, bringing together the styles of Anja Plaschg (Soap&Skin), David Reumüller (Reflector), Alex Kranabetter (m o s), Wolfgang Lehmann (Naked Lunch), Katrin Euller (Rent) and Manfred Engelmayr (Bulbul) into a productive friction. At the interface between experimental electronics and sound performance unfolds a collective-intuitive, intricately spiralling music that plunges straight into the unpredictability of the moment.
