Ulrike Königshofer
AirAbout
Ulrike Königshofer’s multimedia practice explores human perception and the ways in which we construct an understanding of the world in everyday life. Through subtle shifts in perspective, the works of the Vienna-based artist draw attention to what might appear familiar or go unnoticed. In doing so, she opens new pathways to the seemingly familiar and reveals that visibility is not simply an objective given, but emerges through the specific mechanisms of perception – guided by curiosity and a finely tuned observational sensibility.
Programmtext
Ulrike Königshofer’s multimedia practice explores human perception and how we construct our image of the world in everyday life. In her installation, a record player with a soundtrack of wind recordings activates various fans whose air currents are both physically tangible and audible in the space. The experience opens up new perspectives on the customary act of hearing, demonstrating that sound is not an objectively given phenomenon, rather something constituted in an ongoing process of perception and translation.
