Autechre

Rob Brown and Sean Booth invented music that some might dub “abstract.” This is misleading, but then again not. The northern English duo have been working together under the name Autechre since 1987, forging their music more or less exclusively with zeros and ones, with programmed sounds, with devices they soldered together, or with software they wrote themselves. Much of what you hear arises out of nothing; some things emerge by leaving a gap. Their music quotes no other, built entirely within and upon itself, yet it is steeped in the history of dancefloor culture and collective ecstasy in the strangest and most fascinating way.
