claire rousay
Description
The concept of “La Petite Mort,” that brief loss of self that made Roland Barthes think of orgasms and which he also used to describe the pleasure of losing yourself in a book and momentarily escape the world’s ideological grip, also seems to have inspired claire rousay. The new work by the Canadian artist, one of the most prominent voices in contemporary electroacoustic music, has been released under the title a little death. rousay seeks those moments of rapture in attentive listening and reflection. With field recordings, drones, and fragile melodies, she forms subtle sound sculptures that release us from the noise of the world.
