deader than dead
Description
Tipping, falling, lying, sticking to the wall like dead flies: the performers in the video installation to Ligia Lewis’ performance deader than dead shift between slapstick-like loss of control and forms of theatrical performance in an expressionless “deadpan” mode and moments of zombiesque remobilisation, where acts of resistance and the experience of repression fluidly take turns. The video presented at Kunsthalle Krems is an allegory of (social) death and the eradication of voices and (hi)stories in racist contexts.
In cooperation with Kunsthalle Krems.
This exhibition is open to the public until 1st November 2026.
