In light of socio-technical and ecological interconnectedness, there is a “madness” to conceiving hope at a purely individual scale. Extending from Ernst Bloch’s discussion on hope as predicated on the “Not-Yet- Conscious,” we’ll examine how the realism compelled by our planetary condition may not be at odds with Bloch’s ideality but may serve as a means of transforming structural entanglements into social solidarities from which to collectivize hope.
